BETHANY AREA REGULAR EVENTS
Bethany's events coordinator schedules several social occasions each year (generally pot luck dinners related to a social event...check the Bethany Facebook page for updates).
During the Fall, the Town of Bethany holds its Annual Yard Sale, usually the 2nd Saturday in September. All the residents are encouraged to participate. Tables can be set-up in their yards or along Main Street. Food is sold by the Philathea Class, (the best pie makers in America!), in front of the Bethany Memorial Church.
Halloween is a fun event in the Town of Bethany. There often is a brief parade and costume judging around 5 p.m. at Bethany Memorial Church's Weimer Fellowship Hall and then Trick-or-Treat, usually 6 to 7:30 p.m.
For Bethany students and employees there are social events such as the new Octoberfest gathering held on campus, plus Thanksgiving and Christmas related dinners held at Ogden Dining Hall/Cafeteria.
Another cherished event during the Christmas season is the arrival of Santa Claus to Bethany on Christmas Eve. Santa comes to Bethany riding on a cool yellow Bethany fire truck. He visits each of the children (of all ages) in town. The early arrival of Santa is sponsored by the Bethany Women's Club.
During the first Saturday in May, the Darline Nicholson May Morning Breakfast is held on the Bethany College Campus. All the women in the Bethany Community are invited to attend. The event honors the senior women of Bethany College who will be graduating that spring. A notable female speaker provides an informative and inspirational speech. During the breakfast, the Aleece Gresham Award is presented to a senior woman for her leadership and community service. Male students serve the meal.
Summer in the Bethany area takes on a resort feeling. There are a variety of activities for the children in and around Bethany. The town park bustles. Bethany College's Office of Camps and Conferences sometimes brings a variety of activities to campus/Town each June thru August, ranging from arts and youth camps, to band camps, basketball and soccer camps, and more.
