The Highlands is located about a 20-25 minute drive (thru back roads) from Bethany. This recently developed shopping area provides you with numerous shopping, entertainment and restaurant venues. Some main attractions are Cabelas, Best Buy, Panera Bread, Mc Donalds, Bob Evans, Old Navy, Bed Bath and Beyond, J.C. Penney, Target, Movie Theater (14 screens), Quaker Steak and Lube, Cheddars Casual Café, Books-a-Million, Wal-Mart, & Petco, etc., There are several large motel chains there including Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Inn, Microtel, etc.
Directions
Many local residents/students get there by driving out SR 67 East, until it becomes PA SR 331. When you see the left hand road sign for PA 3003 (about 2 miles out of Bethany)-take a right. You'll eventually intersect with PA 3005 (after about 6 miles), then take a left. Once you come into the Village of West Alexander, PA, (be sure to cross Highway 40 and keep going straight (on North Liberty St) and look for the I-70 sign. At Main St., turn left, then see another I-70 sign and turn right. You're then about three city blocks to an on-ramp for Interstate 70, head west towards Wheeling (another 3 miles or so), you'll see the exit for Cabela Drive at the Highlands.

Chambers is Bethany's "classic" grocery-hardware store. This means of course there's a meat counter and fresh produce. Chambers features fresh cheese and meat sandwiches from their deli counter at an inexpensive price. Chambers is a key location for many notices concerning sales and special occasions in the area.

Run by Follett Higher Education Group, the Bethany College Bookstore is located on center campus in Morlan Hall.
Perk's, a coffee shop that also serves pastries and sandwiches is located across from the bookstore on the first floor of Morlan Hall in the center of the campus.

ERICKSON ALUMNI CENTER
Located on Richardson Street, the Alumni Center features seven guest rooms for alumni and visitors. It features the Wilkin Parlor, a nicely decorated and furnished sitting room for alumni and guests and includes the Bethany College offices of the Alumni Relations, Church Relations, Development and the Communications. WELLSBURG, WV
Wellsburg is the nearest community for any extensive shopping. Most drivers use 67 West into Wellsburg. It features the basics of banks, grocery and convenience stores, drug stores, variety stores, car dealerships, several dining places (fast food and formal), a few gift shops, hardware stores, auto parts stores, a dry cleaning store, a few gas stations and a coin operated laundry.
Motorists can also arrive at Wellsburg by driving up SR 88 North, then taking SR 27 East. Along the way, you'll see several golf courses, a few small convenience stores (like Peggy Sue's) and the regionally famous historic eatery (and locals hangout) named Drover's Inn (It Also Features a Tavern and Gift Shop). Locals love their chicken wings.

FOLLANSBEE, WV
Follansbee is a 20 minute drive from Bethany. Travel West on Route 67 and turn right when you come to the intersection of Route 2. The downtown district has several stores. Major franchises include Sheetz, Burger King, McDonalds and Subway. There's also a small Reisbeck's grocery store, some drug stores and other gift stores.

Downtown Weirton has a few restaurants, several small gambling cafes, and other stores. By taking the Weirton By-Pass and exiting Three Springs Drive, you'll find a few strip malls and big box stores such as a Walmart, a K Mart ,various fast-food places, and several motels.
